Read This It Could Change Your Opinion About General Contractors
I would like to start out by saying, that I have been a
General Building Contractor for quite some time now. I'm not the type of
General Building Contractor who does large projects and works in an
office most of the time. I'm a working general contractor and enjoy the
process of building, so it would be difficult for me to work in an
office all day long.
I don't know how many construction workers think that General
Contractors don't do anything except walk around all day or work in an
air-conditioning office, but I'm here to tell you something different.
This isn't what most general contractors do and if you know one that
does, I would like you to ask them how long it took them to get into
that particular position and what they had to do to actually get there.
I worked for a general contractor that gave everyone the impression that
he didn't do anything all day long, but that wasn't the case. This
particular contractor used to get up at three o'clock in the morning and
sometimes spend long hours working into the evening, just because he
needed to get something done.
Here's the illusion that General contractors like this often create. The
only time that construction workers ever get to see them is when they're
walking around the jobsite. They don't get to see all of the other stuff
that they do or the hours that these guys put in.
The next time that you look at a general contractor, you might look at
them differently. This isn't an easy job and there's a lot of risk
involved in large construction projects. If it was easy, don't you think
everyone would be doing it? Here's something else I would like to
suggest. If you work in the construction industry and you think that
general contracting is actually easy, you should try to do it sometime.
