Protect Your Storage Sheds During Winter
If you live in cold climates, where temperatures drop
below freezing and stay there for long periods of time, you could find
yourself dealing with springtime repairs, especially if you haven't
prepared your storage shed correctly.
If you're storage shed isn't it in good condition and year after year
it's getting worse, it's time to do a little maintenance. If you live in
an area where the ground is moist for more than three months out of the
year and your storage shed is located on top of the ground, storage shed
maintenance is a must.
Make sure that you fix and repair any damage to your storage shed before
it gets too cold or wet to make these repairs. In other words, it's not
going to be as easy to fix the roof when there is 2 feet of snow on top
of it, as it would be during the fall or summer. If you have any
problems with your storage shed, make sure that you make the necessary
repairs, before they actually become a problem.
One of the biggest problems with storage sheds in areas where it rains
and snow often is going to be the foundation of the storage shed itself.
If the shed is sitting directly on top of the ground, you could find
yourself replacing the entire shed after only a few winters.
The best tip that I could get anyone who is interested in protecting
their storage shed for the winter is to keep the area around the storage
shed clean and free of any debris. This includes snow, leaves and ice.
Remember that a little bit of maintenance can extend the life of a
storage shed and this translates into saving you money. And everyone
wants to save money.
