Mold, Mildew And Fungus, Hides Behind Your Walls

I have been building and remodeling homes for quite some time now and I have seen mold, mildew and fungus in almost every area that you could possibly imagine in a house. I've seen it under the floor, on top of the roof, behind your walls and underneath, anything that remained moist from a water leak for a long period of time.

There are plenty of homeowners that call me to repair their water damaged homes and most of the time, I can explain the actual damage that isn't visible and that it could be hiding behind their walls or even underneath their floors. In other words, if they can't see it, they don't want to spend any more money, replacing sections of their home that aren't visibly damaged.

Here's a tip for any homeowner that doesn't understand what I'm talking about. If you have any water damage in an area where water has been leaking for longer than one month, you could have mold, fungus or mildew growing behind your walls and just because it isn't visible, doesn't mean that it's not their.

I removed a water heater, one time that had water leaking from one of the flexible pipes that connected the water heater, to the main hot water pipe in the home. The water leaked for a long period of time and I found mold growing behind the drywall, directly on the wood framing lumber and there was a fungus growing underneath the plywood water heater platform that I had never seen before.

Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean that it isn't there.
