Laying Out Complex Building Foundations
Laying out a square building foundation can be
complicated. How in the world do they lay out some of these extremely
difficult or complex building foundations that you see in million-dollar
homes today?
What I'm about to tell you it is probably something that you don't want
to hear, but I'm going to tell it to you anyway. You're going to need to
understand basic geometry and this will also require you to have a
little more advanced math skills and a general understanding of building
foundations before you can lay out the more difficult ones.
One of the best books that I can recommend for complex building
foundation layout would be a book written by John Carroll, called
Measuring, Marking and Layout a Builder's Guide. This book will provide
you with enough illustrations and information to construct difficult
building foundations and will also provide you with solutions for other
complicated construction problems.
Remember that the building foundation is the key to successful building.
If you feel that this type of construction is out of your league, I
would suggest that you find someone who is familiar with the process of
constructing complicated building foundations.
If on the other hand, you have a basic knowledge of building foundation
forming, there's a good chance that you will be able to construct a more
complicated building foundation, but don't attempt to do something that
you're not comfortable with entirely.
I have gathered plenty of my knowledge from useful books like these and
you can too. Solutions for the most difficult construction projects can
usually be found in books. Don't be afraid to tackle the tough jobs, but
if you're uncomfortable with the process, hire the pros.
