Extensive Window Sill Damage From Poor Shower Construction

If you're going to have a window in your shower area, it's going to be very important to make sure that the window sill area is waterproofed correctly. I don't know how many homes I've actually worked on that have extensive window sill damage from poor shower construction.

If there is one thing you need to remember about water, it's that even the smallest crack can do an incredible amount of damage to your bathroom. Just because you can't see these tiny cracks, doesn't mean that the water won't eventually find its way into them.

I couldn't believe my eyes, once I started to remove the exterior stucco from the bathroom area of a home that I was working on. This particular bathroom was going to be the only part of the home that we weren't going to be working on, until we removed the exterior stucco and found the damage to the window sill.

Now I forgot to tell you something, this bathroom was completely remodeled less than two years before we started working on the remodel. The homeowners hired a contractor that was recommended to them by one of their best friends. The contractor did excellent work and this bathroom really looked nice.

The damage that was done in less than two years to the wood framing was simply unthinkable. This type of stuff happens more often than you would think. It's not only important that you hire an experienced contractor, you need to make sure that they're using experienced workers.

When contractors often become too busy, some of them will hire workers that don't have enough experience and sooner or later, problems like these are going to show up.
