Do It Right The First Time - Home Restoration
Someone told me something a long time ago and I would
like to share it with everyone who was truly interested in doing a good
job,” If you're going to do something, do it right.” I heard this saying
a long time ago and it really makes a lot of sense.
Another person who I used to work for, told me something that didn't
make as much sense until later in my career,” It takes just as much time
to do something wrong as it does to do it right.” This didn't make much
sense to me when I was younger, because it seem like you could do
something wrong faster than you could do it right.
Now this might not make a lot of sense to people that work by the hour
or are paid simply as part of the process for working certain hours, but
for someone like myself, I only got paid after I had completed a certain
part of the job.
Here's an example of what I'm talking about. If I was installing a set
of stairs and it wasn't built correctly, the construction foreman would
make me repair the damage, before I got paid. After repairing or
installing special blocking that I conveniently forgot to put in, I got
the message loud and clear.
I know plenty of people in the construction business who really aren't
interested in building houses to the best of their ability. This has
always irritated me and often I was the one who needed to go back and
repair their poorly constructed works of art. If you truly don't have a
desire to do it right the first time, go find another business to belong
to.
Poorly constructed buildings create safety hazards and safety hazards
eventually create accidents. Some of these accidents, can be extremely
hazardous to someone else's, including your own health.
