Design First Then Renovate Your Home
I know plenty of homeowners who have a pretty good idea
about what they want and often call me, to provide them with a decent
design for their renovation project. This is okay for the remodeling
contractor, but most of the time the homeowner doesn't get exactly what
they want. They haven't gathered enough information and often end up
disappointed in the future.
The first thing you need to do is design and plan your remodeling
project. This could require you to check out books from your local
library, purchase books from your local bookstores or look through
pictures on the Internet, until you have found the perfect design for
your new remodeling project.
One of the biggest problems I find with homeowners, as a contractor
after the project is complete or even many years later, is the fact that
they're not 100% happy with the design. Most of these people, never took
the time to do any research to find the perfect remodeling project plan.
I'm not writing this article out of the goodness of my heart, I'm not
writing this article to complain about contractors or homeowners, I'm
writing this article to inform people working in the construction
business and homeowners about the problems with designing and planning
their future renovation projects.
It's very important to design first and build next. Everyone wants to
start the project immediately and as soon as possible. This will often
eliminate a nice plan and could lead to problems later. I can't stress
this enough, make sure that you plan and design your project, before
starting. This is very important and could save you a lot of frustration
and even a lot of money in the future.
