Dealing With Home Inspection Repairs
Okay, you've had the dreaded home inspection and now the
home inspector is requiring the homeowner, to fix the damage to the
house, before it can be sold. Who is going to do the home inspection
repairs?
Here's who I would suggest that you don't use, to do your home
inspection repairs. The home inspector who inspected the house. Some of
these home inspection companies, can charge ungodly amounts of money,
just to do simple repairs and some of the time they aren't even done
correctly..
I'm not talking about every home inspection company or every single home
inspector, but I would like you to think about something for a minute. I
would imagine that more than half of all home inspection repairs, are
done by the home inspection company and the homeowners don't even
question, the price is that they are paying for these repairs. They just
want it done and they're only thoughts are about moving and selling
their home.
What does it actually hurt, to get a few contractors, to look at the
property damage? You have a list of all the repairs that need to be
done. This makes it easy for any contractor or handyman to give you a
price to repair the damage. It's not like their going to be looking
around and giving you another inspection, there's a list of repairs that
need to be done. It doesn't get any simpler than that.
By doing less, you're simply keeping the home inspection company or a
home inspector, from ripping you off. Let me leave you with a little bit
of advice. If you don't understand what I'm saying, it's very important
that you really read this article.
I personally have witnessed home inspection reports, that have included
home repairs that were more than double, what I would have charged a
homeowner and I'm a licensed general contractor.
